What is the great appeal to politicians of Ethanol as a an alternative energy source to power our cars with? . As is the case in most political schemes this is a very poorly conceived program which is already causing great problems for mankind. Some really bad things you need to know about Ethanol.
Ethanol is VERY inefficient as an energy source, requiring almost a third more energy than it creates And this is when fossil fuel is being used to account for the waste. Energy losses from other sources of ethanol, such as switch grass (45%) and wood (57%) are even worse.
Ethanol has also been sold as a way to make our fuel supply more secure, but an examination of this claim by scholars from the Cato Institute (published in the Washington Post) indicates that corn crops are far more variable than the world oil supply. The more we depend on ethanol the more likely we are to have fuel shortages after a bad harvest
Ethanol makes it more likely that you will burn to death in your car. Neither water nor conventional foams work on ethanol fires. Ethanol fires require special materials and training to extinguish.
Qui Bono? Who benefits? The ethanol program is really a government program of corporate welfare. Author James Bovard explains that the American consumer is being ripped off big time by the agricultural corporations using government subsides and tax breaks, like those for ethanol, to steal from consumers and tax payers to the tune of billions of dollars. So the next time that you hear about Congress investigating Big Oil on behalf of the consumer and then turning subsidies over to Ethanol instead of Big Oil ask yourself that question “Qui Bono?” (Who benefits?) Our government's ethanol policies are a major culprit. Bovard estimates that every $1 of profit earned by Archer Daniels Midland from its ethanol operation has cost taxpayers $30
There can be no doubt. The government and the big corporations (same thing) is raking in billions from the Global Warming scare and must be stopped immediately. If we can achieve this goal we will improve the environment, lower spending and make the budget somewhat more confrontable. Better yet, all of this can be achieved while also lowering your fuel and food prices.
In the mean time, on an individual level there is one thing we can do that has proven to be effective.
WATER4GAS is providing information for a nominal fee which car owners can use at home to create a small gizmo which instills hydrogen into the fuel/air mixture that their automobile runs on.
The process makes bite sized particles out of the ones that the engine burns as fuel. Because of the smaller size the system is able to use a lot more of it.
By doing this you can minimumly expect to improve your MPG by thirty to fifty percent or even more. Those particles must have been pretty "blankin'" huge in some engines before. But with WATER4GAS they are made consumable so you can improve your MPG.
It also helps make emissions substantially cleaner.
