It’s amazing what some politicians, well, almost all politicians will say If you will recall, the first stop on the fixed race for the presidential election was Iowa. Iowa is a place where they grow a lot of corn! And the words coming out of the mouths of the presidential candidates were definitely corny!
It would make a healthy man ill to observe this circus of clowns who claim to be the best choice for the highest office in America come out with statements that would make you think they had been staunch supporters of Ethanol as alternative fuel forever at the time when they were trying to win the Iowa caucus.
Of course, the primary source of Ethanol right now is corn and this is not just another issue in Iowa but the biggest cash cow that they have their hands on. Well sorry folks, but I say f*ck Iowa! But the politicians were not quite so honest.
In the case of John McCain, he did a total flip flop. Prior to Iowa, McCain was known for his antipathy towards ethanol and for saying that ethanol’s effect was to actually raise gas prices. He has claimed ethanol does nothing to make the U.S. more energy independent. McCain has even, correctly, questioned the validity of corn as a fuel source because ethanol consumes more energy from fossil fuel than it produces. "Ethanol is a product that would not exist if Congress didn't create an artificial market for it. No one would be willing to buy it," McCain said in November 2003.
So how could the same man say, just prior to the Iowa Caucus,
"I support ethanol and I think it is a vital alternative energy source not only because of our dependency on foreign oil but its greenhouse gas reduction effects,"
My point? There are millions of people who might live or die, a planet could become a thriving, abundant, bountiful paradise or a desolate wasteland, the economy flourishes or crashes to no small degree based upon what political officials and leaders decide about future energy sources.
And one of the worst options would be Ethanol.
Data that I have says that the impact of Ethanol on the planet if it is ever made a large focus of our energy supply, would possibly include MORE toxic emissions and climate change, widespread hunger much worse than we have it now, skyrocketing prices of other crops and food in general and other environmental impacts that can be quite ghastly.
And the lack of responsibility by the presidential candidates who use alternative energy as just another way to sway voters in their favor would be funny if it was not potentially so tragic.
In the end, the ethanol boom is another manifestation of America's blind faith that technology will solve all our problems. Thirty years ago, nuclear power was the answer. Then it was hydrogen. Biofuels may work out better, especially if mandates are coupled with tough caps on greenhouse-gas emissions.
But since that is the scene and the people in charge are not going to do anything sensible about it, that makes it more urgent for you and me to take responsibility. After all, it is OUR planet and it is OUR lives and there IS something that can be done about it!
While no individual can control the price of diesel fuel, any individual can become cause and improve their MPG
In case you are not familiar, it has been proven time and time again, safely splitting Hydrogen from water to generate a more optimum energy source is already a viable technology that we can access right now. Furthermore, it is not even a new technology, really; its just recently been designed better so that we can use it.
I mentioned that I would tell you more about the Water4Gas system.
WATER4GAS is sharing information for a nominal fee which individuals can use in their garage or wherever to build a small device which infuses hydrogen into the fuel/air mixture that their automobile runs on.
What this does is make bite sized particles out of the ones that the engine burns as fuel. Because of the smaller size the system is able to use much more of it.
By doing this you can minimumly expect to lower your gas usage by 30-50% or significantly more. Those molecules must have been pretty darn huge in some engines before. But with W4G they are made usable so you can lower your gas usage.
It also helps reduce emissions significantly.
